Governance Model

Organization

The Open webOS Project is an open community of developers, which is governed by the Apache Software License v2.0. It is comprised of Open webOS development team members, contributors from LG, and external contributors. Since the community structure is evolving, in this initial stage, all components will have oversight by the Open webOS dedicated development team. The team includes:

Project Leader

Overall Project Owner Steve Winston
Program Management Kent Ohlund
Core OS Components Keith Derrick
Web Browser Components Leonid Zolotarev
System Manager Components Roger Stringer
Application and Services Vivek Sekar
Build System Herb Kuta and Steve Lemke
Community Manager Roy Sutton

We encourage participation by anyone who wants to collaborate on the direction of the Open webOS Project. The best way to get involved is to join the community and take an active role as a contributor. As the community grows, and public developers take on more leadership in contributing to components, we hope to extend maintainer roles to external contributors from the Open webOS community at large.

Please note: If you are proposing large code changes or major features, we ask that you discuss it with us first in one of the Forums or mailing lists - this ensures any major investment of time on your part is aligned with the overall direction of the Project and that the community can discuss and build consensus before you begin work.

Communication and Process

The Project uses well known tools and processes to make contributing and communicating straightforward.

These resources include this website, GitHub, a bug tracker, mailing lists and web forums. We host code on GitHub, and maintainers use the well known GitHub pull request mechanism to review and accept contributions.

A mechanism inspired by the well known Linux Developer Certificate of Origin is used to sign off contributions. Learn more on How We Accept Contributions.

Everyone contributing to the Open webOS Project or participating on the forums, mailing lists or other resources provided by the Project must abide by the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines. While creative ideas and respectful debates on topics are encouraged, the Open webOS Project reserves the right to act as needed to protect the integrity of the Project, including the removal of any posts deemed inappropriate or offensive.

Community members should note that the information submitted via the forums, mailings lists or any other communications, resources of the Open webOS Project will immediately become public information.
